Lake County Partners with Blue Kids in Honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month

In honor of April being Child Abuse Prevention Month, several of our Community Partners have joined forces with Blue Kids. The Blue Kids Program is designed to help advocate the community on child abuse in Lake County. The goal is to encourage local businesses, schools, and the community to have conversations about child abuse. The discussions should engage people to speak up and create public awareness that can be integral to help prevent child abuse. We encourage you to stop and review the posted information around Lake County this month. Finds ways in your everyday life to be a part of the change towards a safer and more equitable future for our Lake County youth! For more information, please visit friendsoflccac.org/blue-kids

Meet the Team - Andrew Bookman

Hi! My name is Andy Bookman, and I’m the Data Coordinator and Analyst for the CJCC and Lake County’s criminal justice agencies under the Safety and Justice Challenge. My role is to retrieve, organize, analyze, and tell the story of the data our justice partners collect. In the year plus that I have had this role, we’ve been able to expand our data capabilities immensely. Our data, combined with other publicly available resources, has allowed the justice partners to not only better understand the current position of our justice system and community, but it has created an environment that allows us to make future, data-driven policy changes that will have a positive impact on people’s lives. I’m excited to continue helping in the development of data-driven policies that will make our communities safer and more equitable in the future.

Diamond Lake School Students Visit Patrol Substation

Earlier this month, several Diamond Lake School students took a field trip to our patrol substation, where they were greeted by Sheriff Idleburg, DC McKinney, Lt Keller, Sgt Briskman, Dep Foy, and other sheriff’s staff! They sat through their very own “Roll Call” and learned about the office! We are always excited for continual community partnerships like this one as the opportunity to engage with the youth is so important to us!

You can help inform and engage the community about this work by forwarding this newsletter to three friends and encouraging them to sign up here.
